Analyst says, Don't be Suprised if More than 1 million iPad 2's sold

The photograph above is just a glimpse of the crowds of people that were lining up outside the Apple Store in the Towson Town Center Mall outside of Baltimore.

Analyst Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities said in a note to investors on Friday that he “would not be surprised” if sales of the iPad 2 reach 1 million this weekend. That number would easily outdo the launch numbers of the original iPad last year, which didn’t reach 1 million until after 28 days on the market, still an impressive figure.

The rate of sales will continue throughout the coming weeks as Apple launches the iPad 2 in 26 more countries on March 25th. The demand for latest and greatest Apple gadget has created crazy demand and most online orders won’t ship for 2-3 weeks as of right now. Whereas tons of people flocked to Apple’s 236 US Retail stores including our own Luke Abell, Founder of LTT. (see photos below)

Lines around the country were outrageously long. Though they seemed small at first, they started to explode as the clock inched towards 5 PM. Spots near the front were considered very valuable as evidence by one woman who sold her spot as first in line at Apple’s 5th Avenue, NYC store for $900.

Analysts are accrediting the iPad 2’s success to the availability of two different colors as well as the coolness of the new Smart Covers, which definitely add a style factor to the best looking tablet on the market.

Did you get the iPad 2? Upgrade from the 1st generation? What color/size did you get? Holding out? Let us know in the comments below.

Lines like this were experienced nationwide as the iPad 2 launched at 5PM for all retailers. The bulk of lines, however, were formed outside of Apple Stores.
